It's Good To Know

Prof Dzulkifli Abdul Razak in his article in The Sun on Mar 11, wrote about the Christian Bible and its translation in Bahasa Indonesia (Alkitab). Unfortunately he manifested not only his lack of understanding in the specified field of bible translation but also an inadequate knowledge of basic Christian concepts.

Hence we have asked Fr Martin Harun, OFM, a biblical scholar, to respond to his article. Fr Martin is a member of the Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia. Please note that we have not altered the original article of Prof Dzulkifli. The response of Fr Martin is in bold beneath those statements that are inaccurate or which do not measure up to good scholarship.

The SDC

I get a glimpse on TV about news on the Sabah Development Corridor (SDC). There was some familiar a.k.a LIAR faces popping on the screen talking craps about ensuring the implementation of the project to be as smooth as possible, for the fact that they cared for the people of Sabah. Oh really? The leaders there are just care for themselves, their families and their survival. They do not care about us.

I believe the SDC itself is politically motivated as we all know it was launched when the GE was just around the corner. Oooo, the government must be very concern for the people of Sabah, after so long digging the wealth of this rich state and give nothing significant in return. Well, they keep on telling stories about improving this, that and so forth, but are those mentioned are what we really want?

If you see the points stated in the SDC plan, of course it looks lucrative. The plan takes about 25 years to be realized in which to make Sabah as a most liveable place in Asia. SDC's key economic drivers are services which includes tourism and logistics, agriculture and manufacturing. I am not against the principles of SDC, but by right they should have done this long long time before if they have brain to think.

Now, because of their stupidity, many Sabahan professionals are in doubt in deciding whether they should go back to their hometown or not due to lack or no job at all which suits their capacity. Well, some might not mind at all, but I believe majority of them want to work closer at home and their loved ones.

So, all of us Sabahan must be always suspicious, critical and cynical about whatever being promised to us, especially from the government, the in-efficient government. We must watch them and ensure they do their job properly. We must voice out our opinion the way RPK did. If they intend to charge us on whatever Act, we run and hide inside the jungle.

It’s been 2 weeks since I left KL. Life seems ok here. Last Friday I found another place for running. So, I can start to run again and as for that day, I ran about 6 km. That is enough for me. If I go beyond that, I am afraid I will lose more weight. Should I participate the KL Marathon this June? I mean the Half-marathon? No, i guess i will consider for the 10 km category only..... hehehe

Here, I cook my own meal every day. Together with my housemate, the iron chef, we take turn to cook. Obviously his cooking is much better than mine and at the same time, took shorter time to be done.

I wash my own clothes too instead of sending them to laundry service every week when I was in KL. I save much on petrol too since the distance between my house and my workplace is only 4km compare to 18km in KL. Some more, I need not to pay toll here.

I am supposed to go back to my hometown on the 25th this month. I bought my flight ticket 3 months ago. But since I still on probationary for a period of 3 months, I am not eligible to take annual leave. I have to take unpaid leave of 4 days and I don’t think it is possible right now (Habis duitku)

By the way, I bought another ticket to KL as I want to spend my Labour Day holiday in KL. Haha….. Not really, just wana take some stuff and pay a visit to my ex-housemates. I wana wish everybody, Happy Kaamatan. Arigato.

My Ear

I believe there is something wrong with my ear….. The drum is perforated. I mean both sides. This might seem funny, but I can feel the warm air flowing out of my ear when I blow it from inside? You know what I mean? I don’t know how to explain, but I am sure you get it.

Not only that, but every sound seems louder than usual. Why is this happening? Anyhow, forget it. I had a busy weekend. But thanks to God, I enjoyed it. Happy Easter to everybody. Now, I am looking forward for Christmas.
Bye bye.

Where am I?

After been in Penang for 5 days, I started to adjust myself to the new house, new environment, new work place, new friends etc. I started to accept that my room is small….. that I cannot run during night time because it is too dangerous….. that I cannot wash my car on my own since there is no way I can go inside the parking area. The most stupid policy ever, only one car/unit house is allowed to enter the entrance gate.

But I believe, there will be a way for me to beat these unfortunate constraints. I just need more time to see it coming. Today, is my second day working in the new company. Day one was tremendously bored. There were no many things to do. Anyhow today, a little bit different. I did my own tour and survey to understand further about my future task.

Tomorrow, I will be doing some hands on job, which I created on my own to ensure a smooth start when my senior start to dump some new project on me. Well, they did train me, by just verbally explained on what is this and that. Oh well, I clearly understood, but if you ask me to do it right away, I believe I can only do 30% out of it. Then there will be some frustrated face shown, and this is what I really want to avoid before it happened.

Overall, I am excited about a new responsibility. I am looking forward to learn and to contribute. I have no regret when I walk my plan and decided to go. Those peoples, who belittled my decision to resign, should feel ashamed about themselves for the negative and bad perception they gave on me. It is very clear that their allegations were baseless and based on emotional and personal overreaction.

They pretend they knew everything. They predict other people future. They even said, since the economic outlook is not good, thus you should be thankful of what you have and do not look for a short term gain.(Aku plak dia kata tamak). What a bluff.

My Flip Flop

Even though I am a bit free, but I keep myself busy as I need to prepare to move out to Penang soon. I decided to move on Friday. Actually I am wondering about how many of my stuff I should bring together. Considering of a limited space of my car is one thing. Another and most importantly is, how big is my room size in Penang?

I talked about this with my friend to whom I will stay with, and he said the room is “small but not really small”. How small is small? I asked him to compare it with any room he knew during our old days in the university, but no concrete answer given. Well, I don’t blame him.

So yesterday, I decided to ask him to take a picture of that room in 4 different angles. I asked him how many tiles covered up the floor, so that I can estimate the room size and he did reply me the info, thanks to him once again.

Well, as an IE, doing layout is one of my job descriptions. So I try to apply this skill in deciding about the most conducive layout for my room, so I can have the most possible efficient layout in town. To my amazement, the room is real small!! Is this the room I am going to stay in?

Look at how many unutilized tiles left? FYI, one tile measured about 30cm square. So, I am pretty sure that my room is really small. I shouldn’t even think about what things I should or should not bring along.

Anyway, I remind myself to be simple. It’s good enough to have a friend to offer me a room to stay and it really avoid me a hassle to find a new room around. So, thank you Henry. One thing is, I am going to negotiate further so that the rent can be made lower than what we verbally agreed earlier. Hehehe…..

I watch "Confession of a Shopaholic"

Yesterday I went to KLCC. I got free TGV coupon and I think why not? I kan dah ‘bujang’ balik….. hehehe. I observed my surrounding like a stranger. I suspect that this might due to excess exposure of the wall inside my office.

I parked my car at Taman Jaya LRT station. I was surprise to know that the parking fee have increased from RM 3 to RM 4. If I used the MBPJ parking, it will only cost RM 0.6/hr.

I guess people making a lot of money with parking business. It’s an easy business I think. If you get the right location, you do not need to worry whether it can sell or not. How much of money you can get in a month if every day the parking is full like this:???

Let’s say 200 cars per day with 26 working days in a month….. they can easily get 20.8K/ month. There is no major cost as no material, no machine, no depreciation etc. involved …. May be only small management or maintenance cost incur which contribution might not be significant. I don’t know. I just guess.

How much do you think they will get when this parking complex completed??

My Last Day in PTM

Last Monday was my last day working in PTM. It had been a great day for me as i had wait for that moment for such a long time ago. Me and some other friends had farewell lunch together at Pizza Hut.
I did not managed to go around the factory to say good bye to everybody. I don't think it is necessary for my case..... or probably deep inside me believes that sending email will do.
So, I wrote a very simple email to everybody, which read like this:
Dear All,

Today will be my last day working in PTM.
I would like to thank to all of you, for everything; the support and guidance towards carrying out my job, and most importantly for being such a good friend all the time.

I am sorry if I ever hurt all of you in one way or another, and I hope the same thing from you too. No one enjoys saying goodbye, but sometimes it just happen for a reason.

Take a good care of yourselves, and till we meet again in future.
I felt a bit sad of leaving my close friends behind, and also upon leaving the company area. Anyhow, thanks God because at the same time, i embarked a new starts. My sceptical boss ever said to me "Dont' expect the grass to be greener outside"..... I am not sure what his purpose of saying that.... it might just the way his brain work.
Why should i be afraid of something i do not know or out of my control? Why i should let my fear keep me from moving and stay the way i am forever? Well, I cannot predict the future, but who else can?
Since i will be reporting to work on the 6th April, I am taking this ample time right now to relax, watch as much movie as i can, eat and sleep as much as i can, wash my car, and so forth. Tomorrow I want to go shopping. Need to buy 2 clothes since I almost forgot that the new company wear casual at work. I only have 3 t-shirts. Lets make it 5 so that 1 day i will have at least 1 t-shirt to wear.
Till then..... bye bye
