The Weird

I got my 2008 bonus on the 26th day of December and my salary on the 29th Dec 2008. Why I am telling this? Because I got it AFTER Christmas, which means I had to withdraw extra money from my little saving, and had to spend money with uncertainty on whether I will get my expected amount of bonus or not. Of course you will spend money in anticipation of how much money will flow into your account, right?

Well, in my previous 2 years experience, the year end bonus shall be given between the 20th day to 22nd day of Dec. But I don’t really understand why this year’s was very different. I try to figure out the logic answer….. but without avail. So, I just let it go. It’s not a big question to think about by the way.

And at the time of writing, it’s already 31st Dec 2008, which is the last day of 2008. I have some plan for New Year. I am not sure whether I can make it or not. It’s just a plan anyway. When you have a plan, sometimes it depends on people to make it happen.

And as for today, I am no longer serving a bond with my company, as it last until 30th Dec 2008. Did I want to change job? Yes, I always want to change job, since the 2nd year working in my company. But, due to overreaction regarding the economy (apart from the serving bond), I should be more careful in planning my next move. I change my strategy to wait and see. Sigh, I hate thinking of going back to work.

And today, I received an email from The Company, which required me to undergo a training regarding something out of my job scope. I am not objecting this kind of training. But I hate it when I am required to teach people about what the training is all about, and probably will be asked to do one project, while my job description probably still remain the same. If you never practice the knowledge beforehand, how you gonna teach somebody about it? How you gonna make people understand and practice something that you yourself only have 2 days of theoretical knowledge?

But, I don’t know yet. We’ll see.

Double Celebration

On the 27th Dec 2008 marked a very special day for my twin brother and his fiancĂ©e as it was the day they were announced as a husband and wife. Congratulations to both of them. Claps, claps….. May God bless their marriage and have a bountiful grace in life ahead.

Reception was held at Beverly Hills Hotel, with the presence of family and relatives of the bride and groom. Besides that, most of my old and close friends also attended, and made the celebration more meaningful and full of joy. I enjoyed the nice food and lovely atmosphere. Everybody seems to be happy, broad smiles in everybody’s face, a perfect description of happiness.

I even tried to show up my dancing skills…. The very first time dancing the poco-poco on the dance floor. But, since everybody knew it very well, and done it like a pro, I only make myself look like a fool. I gave up in less than 5 minutes.

After the wedding party ended, my friends and I continued our drinking and partying session. We started around 11:00p.m and ended around 5:30a.m. We were tired and drunk!!.... Next morning was a different story. And as usual, the life in Sabah, during festive season, is always interesting and full of fun.

Going Into The Reality.....

My flight supposed to be at 7:35am. Well after packed all my stuff, I went to sleep at 2:00am. Suddenly my phone rang; it was my twin who called. He said “Where are you?” I look at the clock, and God! It’s already 6:00a.m. I don’t want to scare him. I just said, I am going to leave soon. He said “What??” I said, it’s still early. I am going to make it.

I rushed to the bathroom, took my shower, check my list and pack everything left. I left my house exactly at 6:30am and asked my friend to drive me to the airport. Forced him to speed until 160km/hr as I assured him I will pay if happen to be any summon. I tell the truth to my twins, and told him that I am going to catch another flight if I missed the schedule one. Don’t tell mom.

I arrived at 7:03am at LCCT, rush to the check in counter, and luckily I AM VERY LUCKY. I managed to check in as the counter has not closed yet. Fuhh….

I arrived at Labuan Airport on the 20th Dec 2008 around 10:07 am. It’s a new airport anyway, and the weather was great. I checked on my new hair cut, to ensure it still intact. I cut my hair short, really short until u can see my balding shape.

I went shopping with my mom and aunties. My mom bought 5 litres of wine. My sister bought a lot of chocolates and a whiskey. My aunt bought a Chivas, Wine and chocolates. I bought nothing. Beers? Just don’t feel like buying anything.

My very first visit to Labuan. The purpose was to attend my brother’s wedding party, as they called it “Shower Party”. Everything was great, the food, people, environment, meeting family and friends. I notice the night life was happening too. About 400 peoples attended the party. The presentation and slides show was very entertaining. The couple also seems very happy.

I saw my mom looking at me with a kind of look. I know that look. But I don’t have the answer.

It was a nice day even though a tiring one, and probably will post some picture here later.

The Inconsistency

It seems that every shopping complex already fall into a Christmas mood now. Sales with discount around 50%-70% are attracting tremendous number of people. I went to Midvalley & The Garden last week. Previously I said I had done with my Christmas shopping, but since the situation were very different at the moment, I ended up buying another 2 pieces of clothes because I got discount of 30%. I don’t know whether they made this number up or what, but I really think I like the clothes, as it looks nice.

I am planning to buy a new jeans and a slack next week as I need to balance out the number of shirts I currently have. I don’t know whether I have enough money for this, but as to make my desire justifiable, I am comforting myself that I only do this once a year. So, who cares….. in fact I am helping to stimulate the economy so that next year we won’t have recession and I can …….(fill in the blank).

The Calendar

Today I received my company year 2009 calendar. There are some changes being made compare to the previous year’s calendar. The good thing is for the 1st half of the year, all Saturdays (26days) declared as an off day, compare to previous one where it depend on holiday’s pattern, the more public holidays in a month means less off day for Saturday. It is a good change anyway, since I feel that working in Saturday is a waste of time, energy and money.

By the way, for the 2nd half of the year, there are 14 out of 26 Saturdays being made as a working day. And it is not just like that, the working hours have been extended from 8.00a.m to 5.00p.m. Currently it is from 8.00a.m to 12.05p.m.

Overall, we have 40/52 days of Saturday declared as an off day. It seems very good even though I am a bit disturbed with the decision to extend the working hours. Well, initially I think that the decision is not in favour of the employee, but I change my mind. I think it’s better now.

The changes are made in consideration of the current economic condition. Probably to cut down operating cost. Every here and there people are talking about bad economy condition. The emotions are very tense when they only can see the dark side of the future. Do you think the economy is that bad? Probably yes. The GDP has reduced from 6.7% in 2Q to 4.7% in 3Q. Some experts even predicting that the 4Q GDP will be around 3.5% or lower.

But I don’t think it will be that severe as what many people talk about it. It won’t go further into a situation of panic or cause havoc unless the US economy continues to go into deep recession. From what I read at the current economic assessment, many economists are confident that Malaysia will not fall into recession. Well, 1st Half 09 probably will be bad, but recovery will start to take place gradually in the 2nd Half 09.

Manufacturing sector especially the electronic industry will be the most vulnerable and service sector is the most resilient. Company needs to maintain a healthy cash flow during this tough time, and avoid associating in heavy debt. How about making additional investment expansion at this moment? Is it a good move? Well, It depends.

But put it this way, if you expect demand will increase in future, then you do the right thing. But if everybody think that the economy is getting worse, situation is getting harder and harder, sales expected to reduce, what is the purpose of expansion?

There is no right or wrong answer here. IT DEPENDS!!. What can you conclude if your company is going into that direction? Only two reason. One, they do not know what they are doing. Two, they are ‘confident’ that the bad situation is not going to prolonged, and through their wise judgement, expansion is required. I believe, the latter is more reasonable.

As an employee, we listen and be cautious of our surrounding, but at the same time, we must have our judgement, and do not simply believe what people telling us.

To be continued…..

P/S:
Today I received a letter from a bank saying that my loan interest rate has been revised accordingly to the recent reduction of the OPR from 3.5% to 3.25%.

Economists believe that the OPR will go down further gradually until 2.75% by next year. Probably, this is the time for us to borrow more money, and put into investments which promise good return. Or is somebody going to start a business? If yes, go borrow money while the interest rate still low. Hehe…..

I Concur

I sensed something, and through my sixth sense, it confirmed to be true. People change anyway, that’s why we need to be wise. Social life, improved. Get to know more people. Why? Have a better social life, replenishment and being secure. New opportunity came in today. Will explain more when the time is right.

The last 2 weeks, was an intense time for me. Calculating the risk and think on how to go about doing it. Sigh….. It’s difficult, but not impossible to do. Middle of December will shed some light, which will show some direction whether The 14 Jan Plan will happen or not. I just have to wait n see.

Hello everybody. I had abandoned my blog for such a long time. Not because I had nothing to say but, not in the mood of writing I guess. Yesterday my boss told us that retrenchment would not be a case in our company. Thanks to that. And he mentioned about this year bonus too.

From what I can understand, this year bonus will be slightly higher compare to last year as he was saying that it is the company policy to give in that manner. I am quite happy to hear that, but who knows? I don’t want to put too much hope, but hopefully it will become true.

And when it’s about 2 more weeks before I go back home, I start to feel that I am going to fall sick again. The very same sickness that I will have each time I go back to my hometown. This is very predictable and I don’t know how to explain this phenomenon. I hate being sick when it suppose the time to enjoy. I really hope this time, it will not make a ‘scene’. Some more, I have an important role to play this month. Please pray for me, as I started to take vit. C last Monday.

My Dream

If you have a chance to open a business on your own, what kind of business do you have in mind? As for me, I would like to start a small business first. The one does not need big capital and less people to run. There are a lot out there. But all this while, I had been thinking about setting up a laundry service shop. It’s just a dream anyway. I don’t even know whether I will ever have the opportunity to realize it, but hopefully soon, when the time is right maybe.

Well, I have been looking for information about this idea from the internet and asking questions from friend who have done it before. Actually, most and foremost, I have to think about where can I get a capital to get it start. And actually there are some organizations out there that are willing to help people who wish to start their own business by providing financial assistance.

But again, I need to prepare a business plan/model proposal, which should well explain the criteria below:

The Executive Summary should talk about the business opportunity, technology, product, market and management; the proposed financing amount and use of the funds; and contain a five-year income statement and capital requirement summary.

The Business Opportunity section should describe the product and technology, and talk about why a customer wants it and how well will it performs.
The section on Business Strategy and Key Milestones should list down business strategies including financial strategy, technology strategy, and product development.

The Marketing Plan should address customer needs, market segmentation, distribution channels, sales strategy and plans, competition and positioning.
The Operations Plan should include engineering and manufacturing plans, facilities and administration plans.

The section on Management and Key members of the Personnel, should give detailed resumes of key personnel, organisation charts, the staffing plan and headcount projections, and information on incentive & compensation programmes, if any.

The Financial Projections should include five-year pro forma forecasts - including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements; together with financial assumptions.

Your proposal will be evaluated then, and if everything seems good, then the first ladder is completed. There are many more ladders to go anyway.

This is just a guideline. There are many ways to go about doing it. So those of you who interested, please prepare your proposal and get your Trading Licence ready.

Quarantine

I watched a movie called Quarantine just now and actually I kind of love the thrill. It based on footage of a news crew, which was much similar like the Cloverfield, and in fact it was better than the latter. While I was watching over the TV reporter, Angela, somebody came across my mind. I think the way she smile had some similarity with this friend of mine.

Guess who? You would be surprised, but I think Flocy of Aberdeen makes the perfect match. You are not Jessica Biel. You are Jennifer Si Tukang Kayu. I just hope that you are not as weak as Angela in the movie….. and I hate it when she lose control of herself because of fear.

Overall, I think its worth to watch, even though I tend to get angry while watching it. Those of you who watched it, don’t you agree with me?

Annual Leave

Everybody does not like Monday. As far as I know, in the Boring group only one person likes Monday very much. But today one good thing happened. I managed to get my leave approved. I don’t think it ever that easy, thanks God. So officially I would like to announce that my Christmas Holiday will start on the 18 Dec 2008. I got 9 days off day remaining, but today it’s all gone. So, like everybody, I am entering a holiday mood now.

I realized that the number of cars on Federal Highway has reduced since last week. I mean, if I leave home at 7:20, I still can reach office on time. So, I take this chance to wake up a bit late. Usually at 6:35am I must be in the bathroom already. But now, at 6:55am taking my shower, and leave my house around 7:18am. Actually, I just like the extra time for sleeping, not because I can reach office on time. Don’t get me wrong.

Today I received my Digi’s phone bill. So far, this is the lowest charges I have ever had. It’s only RM 47.50. I’m currently using Digi 1-plan, which means I have to pay fixed charges of RM 50. Well, I think I suppose to use a bit more this month. As I checked my current usage just now, it’s just RM 12.92. Dear All, please use Digi.

That’s all, thank you.

That was the house where i stayed when i was in primary school - Standard 1-5. My house is just nearby, you can wake up 15 minutes before the bell ring and run into the class. Do you see the river behind? Now you ask where did i learn to swim..... What a nice place to grow up..... Click the picture for larger view.

No Idea

It has been a week since my last post. I don’t really have any idea about what to write. I had many things inside my head previously but I just had to drop it since it was very personal. By the way it doesn’t mean that I will not revealing it, only waiting for a good time to do so.

Talking about work….. Well, nothing special about it. Main thing to do is to prepare a set of target for 2009 Performance Index for the profit centres. Damn! I really like it. Although sometime it’s a bit confusing, but I enjoy doing it.

Each and every day, I am counting how many days left before my long holidays. I have 9 days of annual leave remaining. And I plan to take all of it starting on the 18 Dec 2008. Well, I expect some difficulties of getting it approved, but this Monday should be the day to know about it. As for now, there is no need to worry about it. Worry when the time is right.

This week is a week where I had my performance being reviewed. I was requested to think about how good my performance throughout the year and to decide what score I deserved to get. Well, this is more on self reflection. So without hesitation, I gave myself an A (82.4%). Hopefully the Company will agree with this as it will be reflected in my year-end bonus. (After all, who doesn’t want an A anyway…..)

And lastly, I am not sure whether you have seen this, but I got this email saying that the New Proton MPV will much look like this:

Do you believe in something like this?

Good day Rayner,

I have some great news for you, I've been searching through your configuration and I have just come across an event which I didn't even dare to hope for you. I can see that you are going to be living though an extremely influential period and I just had to write you you straight away to tell you all about this.

This event looks to be quite simply the most important period, and certainly the most influential period, that you have lived through in a long, long time. I can see that this is going to be a total rebirth for you Rayner. What I can see so far can be resumed in 6main points:

1) In 78 days time the Moon, our satellite will find itself in a position which will mean that it will have a very direct and powerful influence upon you Rayner. Any professional astrologer can confirm this as my calculations are based on the position of the Moon in your birth chart, and during these few days the Moon will be at it's maximum influence for you.

2) The 20 December 2008 will mark the beginning of an intense period of 6 months which will start on this day and last until 20 June 2009This period is going to be immensely rich in chances and opportunities and could even be one of the most intense periods that you have ever lived through.

3) To be a little more precise, these chances and opportunities will be on 3 major levels of your life: greater harmony and balance in your love life; financial gain which may or may not be linked to a game of chance such as the lottery and a sudden evolution in the professional side of your life.

4) During this period you will have the prime opportunity to find a permanent solution to the problems which have been dogging you for some time now. You will be able to resolve these issues.

5) This is another point which I don't think should be ignored. During this 6 month period you will certainly have the opportunity to meet someone who will be very important in your life and who will have a great deal of impact on your personal development and looks likely to bring very positive change to many different areas of your life.

6) This period will really represent a rebirth and the start of a whole new cycle in your life however I must warn you that you must be on your guard against certain exterior elements that may perturb you during this same period and which, if you are not careful, could ruin your chances for success. You will need to be very vigilant and must be ready to put yourself in just the right place and at the right time to make the most of these opportunities which will be available to you over these 6 months.

I wanted to warn you as soon as possible about this period, as soon as I found out that it was coming up I wanted to write to you directly as this period is to my mind the single most important event you have lived through in your life so far.

Our lives are made up of cycles and, if you can correctly seize the opportunities open to you in these 3 major areas of your life I have told you about, it seems clear to me that the period between the 20 December 2008 and 20 June 2009 will represent the beginning of a new and exciting period in your life.

As I have always told you, you can count upon my total commitment and my full help to guide you through this period and I have a great many things to tell you about these opportunities. Listen, I do need to pop out of my office for a short while and I just wanted to send you this email quickly to warn you that I had discovered this significant period in your astral configuration.

I am in control of my own destiny..... with God's help.

Company Dinner

I just back from my company annual dinner at Sunway Hotel. Tomorrow is declared as our company off day. So i can sleep late tonight. I had been at two dinner previously which was held at JW Marriot and Shangri La, KL. The best is Shangri La, and the worst as at this moment, is Sunway Hotel.

What i noticed at the dinner:

1. Sound system was very poor. Almost everybody invited to give a speech did not get the audience attention since they cannot hear the words clearly. Who bother to listen? Apart from that, the opening ceremony also very dull, very simple. I did not feel proud of it.

2. The stage was very weird. It is only half of the total grand ball room size. If the grand ball room size is 30m x 30m, the stage is only by 15m x8m (approx). Isn't it weird?

3. They put a large display for additional of 2 projectors, probably to compensate for the small stage. Anyhow the display quality was very bad. Even when the light was dimmed, i can hardly see what happened at the stage. The color was bad, the resolution was bad..... the list goes on.

4. The food was terrible. I am not the only one saying it. A lot of people said the same thing about the taste of the food.

5. The show was very boring. The emcee failed to bring the sense of joy and excitement to the audience. The were less continuation between one point to another. They only managed to lift up the spirit at the end session of the dinner.

6. No variety - I had been working here as long as three years and been attending to at least three annual dinners. The program was very well expected. Each year you will know what will be the first, second, third session.....etc.

7. No smoking area provided nearby. If you want to smoke, you need to get to the lobby and smoke there. The main hall is located at the second level.

Some people might not feel good of my comments over here, but i think the points above are worth to be discussed and reflected during the post mortem. We have to learn to see our weaknesses in order for us to improve.

Long Live Bachelors

Once again, my wish of all the best and enjoy your special day to my fren Guz and Cher, who is going to get marry next week. May God bless both of you.

It was a nice drinking & BBQing party last night, which unfortunately I had not taken any picture since the group from Penang has it all. We gathered at Mr Brans house, although I am a bit late, but I really enjoyed their company, their jokes - their stories, and their secret after all….hehehe…..

The small party which was a ‘graceful’ one in the presence of “Pemastautin Tetap” of Penangites, Well, Joel & Jew(PAKU), the KL new comer Mr Alex, and the unknown residents of Klang Valley, Me, Ceciro, Bran & Gf & Sister, Guz & soon to be wife - Cher

I wish I can spend another time like that in future. Anyway, thanks for the invitation though, and to the Penang Group, you drive carefully and arrive safely at your destination. Don't forget to publish the photo as soon as possible.

PILIHAN RAYA AS

Walau bagaimanapun, tahniah in advance untuk Obama, and all the best terhadap career politiknya.

To Recover

Tomorrow will be my first working day for this week. It was so nice to have a long break, as I managed to do the things that I am suppose to complete before Christmas and the coming New Year.

I do not know whether some of you still remember when I mentioned about delivering my second P-L plan. Well, it seems to have failed. It failed for the second time. I tried for the third time, but still failed without even I start it. Now I have to find other way to solve this matter. Must get it done within these two months left. Hopefully.

This is DK2 if I am not mistaken. I just want to bring the old memory back again, as I think I missed those times. Anyway if I am given a chance to go back to those time, I would say, I would not. Would you?

Nah, just try to freshen up another Christmas memory. Half already back to hometown for good. The other enjoyed their good time all the way. So, they won’t go back. Hehehe

Mabuk sudah!!

When will I get to see you again? I miss them coz I am very close with them in the old days. Where ever you are, take care and all the best in career and life k.

And lastly, enjoy the happy dancing fiesta. It’s quite funny for me.

Justice

Today I did not attend the Sunday mass as I usually did. I must admit that every time I missed the mass, I felt guilty or like something was not right. By the way, this is not the first time I missed it. Only this time I feel about writing it.
Knowing God’s infinite love turned my guilt into acceptance of being a sinner and to fully acknowledge it and to be humbled. (Pandai plak aku berkhutbah).

Anyway last week Sunday Sermon reminds me of my work and career. In the Bible Jesus answered a question of “Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."

Full: Matthew 22:15-22

So I try to reflect on one thing:
1. Did I deliver my job faithfully? Did I give my boss or my company what supposedly and rightfully are theirs?
It all about Justice. Justice in everybody and everything we do.

The Shoe

I bought my shoe last May 2008 and had only used it at least three times. After that I put it inside its box and being kept inside my room. After not being used about three months, today I opened it as I need to use it for some reason. To my shock, I found it in a condition where I myself cannot explain due to limitation of my English vocabulary.

But this is how it look like.....

I don’t really know what had made it like that, as I kept my shoe together with the Silica Gel. It should be in dry condition. Could it be due to absence of lights?

Last Week (WK 43)

It had been a nice week because of the Dojo. Dojo is a Japanese word and it referring to a learning and improvement activity in my company. I don’t know the exact word in English anyway, but in this event, a number of people will involved. They will be divided into smaller group and working together to realize their group’s aims or objectives.

I have forgotten how many Dojos’ I have joined so far, but I believe it shouldn’t be less than ten. I have different feelings on each different Dojo. I hate those which need me to stay back more than 10 o’clock. But, luckily last week’s Dojo only last mostly until 7-8pm.

It was a nice Dojo since I did not have to do my daily reporting which I always consider as a waste of time. How much of job are you talking about to complete in a day? But if your reporting is a one day report short, people will think that you are not doing any job. People expect to hear more. That’s what makes me sick.

The last day of the Dojo ended with one hour written test which compulsory for all candidates. They need to sit for this test in order to be qualified for a Level 1 certificate. Currently I am at level 1A. Practically, the highest level to achieve is Level 3.

During the examination, I sneaked at the questions while walking around, to my surprise, I found that some of it was indeed very difficult to answer. No wonder most of them cannot finished it on time. Luckily the time was extended. At this time, I don’t think I am fit for my Level 1A certification anymore.

I knew the reason behind. It’s because I seldom use it in my daily job. Not because I don’t want to, but because my job direction doesn’t need it to be used. Thus, I forget. What a waste of HUMAN CAPITAL. You get this people qualified for this and that, but never used them for what they had been trained for.

Talking about my job last week, the Dojo was the only thing worth to be mentioned then. A lot of terrible things with terrible people and terrible situation happened too, but they were all history, and Mr Lett is not going to write about it here. Probably next time when the time is right.

Industrial Engineer Pt 1

I seldom talk about my job, what exactly I do, and what does it mean to be an industrial engineer. Back in year 2000/2001, was the time where I had to decide what course or which field should be taken to further up my study. I actually had no idea. My first choice was engineering. But then, what engineering? Civil? Mechanical? Material? Chemical?. I had no idea at all.

Anyhow, I did some study, and found out that the terms and description of Manufacturing Engineering & Telecommunication Engineering just got my attention more than others. So I raised application for both, but ended up being offered with the first one.

I don’t want to talk about how bad I did on my study. I loved my life as a student but really felt sick when it comes to study. I prayed to God to help me to get through my study on time, and indeed with His help, I managed to finish up my study on time but at a very average result. I am not a smart person, if you want to know.

Then after sat for my final examination, I started looking for a job. I prayed hard so that at least will get a job. I did not being choosy, as I knew what my qualification deserved for.

So after merely 3 weeks, I got a job offer as a Business Development Engineer. I like my job, but this company was really a vampire!!. They sucked all my ‘blood’ and energy and emotion. I just can’t stand it and left only after 1 month and 23 days. Well at least I can use this company to get me a car. It was really difficult without a car during that moment. And without a car, I don’t think I will take such a drastic decision to go to KL, just looking for a job.

I drove to KL, just 3 days after my resignation. I arrived in KL in the middle of nowhere. I promised to meet up with my brother at Mid Valley, so he can guide me to the next destination (He knows KL well). Anyhow, since my Nokia 3310 did not support GPS technology during that time, I ended up stopping at KL Sentral. My brother and I met up half an hour later and went to my old friend’s house, where I supposedly be staying.

Since then, I sent a number of applications, and a week later got a job interview and a job offer, as an Industrial Engineer. I thought earlier, I suppose to write directly regarding what Industrial Engineer is all about. But, I guess my mukadimah is very long, and would be very boring if I continue further. So, I stop here and will continue in the next post.

Christmas Memory

I browsed through some old pictures in my hard drive, and found some pictures which remind me about CHRISTMAS. It was the pictures I had during Christmas time in Japan. Even though it was a lonely Christmas for me (Nobody celebrated it with me except some of the church members during mass), but I can say that it was one of the sweetest. That was back to year 2005.....

When i was in Japan, this is how my room look like. Each and everytime i look at this picture, i smiled. Because i ate my Christmas cookies all alone here, anyhow i did enjoyed it.

It was snowing during that time. And it was very beautiful everywhere.

If you plan to go to Japan during christmas season, you should put Tokyo Disneyland as one of your priority list. There were a lot of people during that time and i missed the ferry!!

We should have one big christmas tree at every house during Christmas. Don't you think so?

That's the cookies i mentioned before!!

Now it’s already end-Oct of the year 2008. I consider Christmas as just around the corner. I can feel that this year Christmas will be one of the best and the merriest for me also. A lot of good things expected to happen.

I had been working in Polymatech (M) Sdn Bhd a.k.a my current company for more than 3 years. My service bond will last until 30th Dec 2008, which still has 2 months to go. This is one of the good things also. I have done my reflection on how far I had progressed, what had I achieved so far, what I had learned and where should I go next. The plans are there, waiting for a good time to kick off.

My twin brother will end his bachelorship this coming December. I have a role to play; A Best Man. Some home work need to be done in order for me to be a good assistant. I hope i will not be like this. And it seems that I have to do some appropriate shopping as I will be attending some functions too. How many times I buy new clothing a year? The answer is 1. It’s only once a year. Biasalah orang miskin.

Saving

1st Scenario:
We start saving our earning at the age of 30 years old. We save RM 100 every month which will gives us RM 1,200 per year until the age of 60 years old. We invest this money in a mutual fund which gives 9% after tax return.

2nd Scenario:
We start saving our earning at the age of 20 years old. We save RM 100 every month which will gives us RM 1,200 per year, but until the age of 29 years old. We invest this money in a mutual fund which gives 9% after tax return.

We will be surprised, that at the age of 60 years old, the amount of money we have at Scenario 1 is still less compare to Scenario 2. Even though in Scenario 1, we keep saving until the age of 60 yrs old.

In Scenario 1, we invest a total amount of RM 37,200 (31 yrs x RM 1,200)
In Scenario 2, we only invest a total amount of RM 12,000 (10 yrs x RM 1,200)

We can see here that saving at the earliest possible time do make a huge difference. We heard about the power of compounding interest and we understand it very well.

It’s proven that in order for us to benefit from the power of compounding interest, it’s really needs us to start investing as early as possible, regardless of how much the saving amount will be.

I am sure most of us here can afford to save more that RM 100 a month. Make it a habit to save and invest.

Double Decker

I do not what wrongs with me. Yesterday around 5:30pm, I started to feel a strange sensation in my stomach. In addition to that I felt dizziness all over my head. Berpinar-pinar pandangan sia.

It became worse by the time I drove home. Luckily road was not jam during that time. Even so, only God understand how suffered I am along the way back. I vomited 4 times at the company. And 2 times when I was at home.

About 9:oopm, my friend sent me to the nearby clinic, because i cannot drive anymore due to dizziness. I got injected on the pantat. The stupid thing was the doctor did not close the curtain, until i asked him to. I don't wana people see my ass.

Ngilu. So I took mc the next day….. which is today. I think I got food poisoning at our company’s canteen. My friend said he got stomach ache also. Only not vomitting.

The vomiting and headache now already subsided, but not gone. I just stop my medication on flu, and now have to continue another medication on food poisoning, I guess. Sigh…..

When the account is not balance.....

5 months ago, I made an order of item A from one of our local supplier. Unfortunately due to my lack of attention, the result was not as what I expected. So I made a second order to replace the first one with additional charges of RM 300 (which meant the company merely loss RM 300 due to my ignorance). The transaction was well within the purchasing department knowledge & control. And they were fully aware of it.

Last Friday I received one e-mail from account department, and being CC-ed to our MD. It was due to one supplier I dealt before, demanding payment of items they had delivered 5 months ago, but have not received ANY payment from the account department. Walau satu sen pun.

I learned that the problem was due to NO Purchase Order (PO) being released from purchasing department. Since I was the one who ordered the item, so they blamed me. Like I was the one who responsible to release the PO.

See, the real problem here is NO PO, and no PO means no payment lah…. I understand this very well, but what kept me wondering was why they need to raise the issue of RM 300 loss to the MD?

What they supposed to do was to ask me to get a special approval from the MD to release the payment, since I was the one who made the order. I keep on thinking why they need to raise the issue of RM 300 loss, as an arrangement has been made by purchasing department previously regarding this matter.

In my effort to make long story short, I met with the MD, explained the real situation, kena marah sikit and get his approval. Habis cerita, and puas hati sia.

Excuse & Life

I realized that I should have fully utilized my camera phone for any purpose. So, while having my usual dinner out this weekend, I managed to take some pictures of the dishes. This weekend theme is Vietnam Kitchen (1 Utama) & Codo (MidValley).
I could not remember what exactly they called all these. They got fancy pronounciation. I just mentioned the number when ordering.

It's worth to try. And tomorrow I will start eating instant mee again.

When it come about uploading pictures, it is my habit to keep it for several days before revealing it. Actually, i am just being lazy, waiting for more free time to do it. Below are some pictures which i took in a location i have forgotton the name already.

Those houses are the illegal immigrants. They are so sophisticated nowadays. I don’t know where they keep their speed boats.

A view during mid day. Not really crowded huh?

A broad view.

Restoring Health

I am recovering..... but very slowly, like a turtle going for 100m run. I wonder why. I think this body is telling me something. Something that i should avoid forever. Am i ready for this? I don't know. As for today, my health indication shows 75% of my health has been restored.

I feel weird. Since I back in KL, I realized that I developed one habit, which did not happen when I was in Sabah. I HATE water. Well, I still drink water, but I hate it when it’s time to go to bathroom. It’s really annoying to think that I have to put the shampoo & shower cream all over my body. It’s really irritating to have to think that I have to turn the pipe to release the water.

Due to this, it takes me less than 5 minutes in the bathroom. I believe it must be connected with my illness. Hopefully it will go away upon completely regaining my health back.

Ohh….. Tomorrow is Saturday. I have to kick my P-L plan. Hopefully this second P-L will be successful. I’ll pray.

Out of the ordinary

I think i need more day off..... This sickness is killing me. Eventhough i'm still on medication, it getting worse, and now i started to lose my left-side hearing already. I hope things will get better by tomorrow. If not, i would be seeing the third doctor, and you know how much of 'drugs' i had consumed?

Even the second medication, the doctor put me on steroid, to cure my unusual FLU. I don't really feel ok with the medication though. It causes my body to have the red rashes, a very similar rashes i will get when i eat seafoods. I'm wondering when did my body starts to react against any medication? am i going to be a mutant? See these rashes below:

To get these dots disappeared, i have to take my anti-histamine pill. Did i just say another pill? I am too dependent on medication now. After all, my nose still congested, it's like there is a sand paper inside my throat, got this feeling hot & itchy. Stupid! Hopefully it is not due to melamin.

White Rabbit Creamy Candy contaminated with Melamine

Maybe some of you knew about this already,
but for those who don't.....

HARTFORD, Conn. - An industrial chemical blamed for sickening thousands of infants in China was found in candy in four Connecticut stores this week, a state official said Wednesday.

Days after contaminated White Rabbit Creamy Candy was found in California, Connecticut Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell Jr. said tests found melamine in bags of the candy sold at two New Haven stores, a West Hartford market and an East Haven store.

Inflation or Economic Growth?

As generally known to all of us, inflation is a situation where there is too much demand, but limited supply. Let say, money is not a problem for us, and we can afford anything, and demanding the same thing at the same time, which will cause the supply to be limited, thus, the price will increase.

Interest rate is the amount of money charged when we borrow money from the bank. Be it a credit card loan, personal loan, car loan, mortgage etc. are bound to the interest rate. There are indeed, many types of interest rate.

Who control the interest rate? It is the Central Bank (in Malaysia it is the BNM) to determine the value of it. In what situation the central bank will decide to reduce or increase the interest rate? It is according to current economic condition, whether they need to increase the supply of money or reduce it. (If not interested, please stop here.....)

By controlling the interest rate, the Central Bank (Gov.) may control inflation. If the inflation is high (More money than supply), the Central Bank will increase the interest rate. This means borrowing money become more expensive. As an example, would you want to buy a new house if the interest rate is, let say 15% per annum? Of course you will avoid borrowing money.

On the other hand, if the interest rate is higher, we will be encouraged to save and keep our money. Which mean, we spend less (reduce the circulation of money over something limited), and when customer spending reduce, inflation will reduce also.

So here we can conclude that, high interest rate tends to keep inflation lower, and low interest rate tends to drive inflation higher. Increased the interest rate will result in lower customer spending and vice versa.

Economic growth shows how much the overall economy progressing over a period of time. In order for it to have a positive growth, customer spending (Demand) must grow. The consumers have to buy product, then only production will occurs. This in return will generate income for the government and to the people and boost the economy. The cycle continues.

So we can see that, interest rate, inflation, economic growth is interconnected. When the government increase the interest rate, inflation could go lower with customer spending reducing, thus economic growth will also reduced.

Anyway, if the government reduces the interest rate, it will be easier for people to borrow money and depositing money into the bank is not attractive anymore, which in turn will drive the inflation higher. But because supply of money has increased, customer spending (Demand) also increased thus will lead to a higher economic growth.

So, when the BNM decided to leave its key overnight policy rate unchanged at 3.50 pct, I think they were worried about the economy growth as well as the inflation. They believed the 3.5% rate still supportive to the economic growth. As we all know, the government projecting an economic growth target at 5% - 6%. Their hands were tied up. Any movement will result on the inflation or growth to further deteriorate.

Recession happens when the economic growth (GDP) become negative. A country with possible threat of recession, will usually acts by reducing the interest rate to stimulate customer spending and to prevent the stock market from further stumbling. But, they are facing the threat of higher inflation.

One more correlation we can learn here. Reducing the interest rate indirectly may bring the stock market price higher. Because company can borrow money at low cost to expand their business. This in turn will boost the economy growth, and vice versa.

A Day

Yesterday I watched this movie at CATHAY CINEPLEXES-KOTA KINABALU. It's a nice movie for me..... I like the storyline and the thrills and the actions..... Apart from that, the hall's temperature was within my comfort level.

By the way, I think the sound system is not as good as the GSC 1 Utama and GSC Pavilion. I've been there many times, so i can tell the difference. Another thing is about the seat. It's shorter where you only can lean your back, cannot lean ur neck and head, incase you want to sleep if the movie turns out to be boring.

Anyway, CATHAY CINEPLEXES-CINELEISURE DAMANSARA, PETALING JAYA, is awesome for me, not others. Probably I should try GSC 1 Borneo to see how it's look like.

I just hope this movie will make my day on the 6th/9 of my holiday. Is it the 6th already??!!! What an envious time. I don't wana go back there!!.

This is my humble house. Inside the jungle. Another panoramic view.... I like panoramic view.

I would like to introduce to all of you, Mr Bintik, a very faithful dog. He never forgotton me, and treated me like a stranger eventhough i only back home once in a 5 months. Thanks God, my look never change since 7 years ago.
As relax as he seems to be in the picture, you should be very careful of him. He bites!!
Last but not least (Betul ka ni?), My sickness getting worse. I really can feel it right now, is's getting worst!!. Why now? Why not in KL? so that i can take M/C. I would like to tell this FLU, that i still have a full leaves for M/C. Please attack me during a time I am eligble to apply for a M/C. Not now!!
So, i came to see the doctor, and see what she gave me. Anyway, my main purpose is not promoting any clinic. When i walked around into looking for a clinic, that was the first clinic i saw, and i hope the medicines they gave me can restore my health back. After that only i can give due credit. hehe.
