To Recover

Tomorrow will be my first working day for this week. It was so nice to have a long break, as I managed to do the things that I am suppose to complete before Christmas and the coming New Year.

I do not know whether some of you still remember when I mentioned about delivering my second P-L plan. Well, it seems to have failed. It failed for the second time. I tried for the third time, but still failed without even I start it. Now I have to find other way to solve this matter. Must get it done within these two months left. Hopefully.

This is DK2 if I am not mistaken. I just want to bring the old memory back again, as I think I missed those times. Anyway if I am given a chance to go back to those time, I would say, I would not. Would you?

Nah, just try to freshen up another Christmas memory. Half already back to hometown for good. The other enjoyed their good time all the way. So, they won’t go back. Hehehe

Mabuk sudah!!

When will I get to see you again? I miss them coz I am very close with them in the old days. Where ever you are, take care and all the best in career and life k.

And lastly, enjoy the happy dancing fiesta. It’s quite funny for me.

Justice

Today I did not attend the Sunday mass as I usually did. I must admit that every time I missed the mass, I felt guilty or like something was not right. By the way, this is not the first time I missed it. Only this time I feel about writing it.
Knowing God’s infinite love turned my guilt into acceptance of being a sinner and to fully acknowledge it and to be humbled. (Pandai plak aku berkhutbah).

Anyway last week Sunday Sermon reminds me of my work and career. In the Bible Jesus answered a question of “Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."

Full: Matthew 22:15-22

So I try to reflect on one thing:
1. Did I deliver my job faithfully? Did I give my boss or my company what supposedly and rightfully are theirs?
It all about Justice. Justice in everybody and everything we do.

The Shoe

I bought my shoe last May 2008 and had only used it at least three times. After that I put it inside its box and being kept inside my room. After not being used about three months, today I opened it as I need to use it for some reason. To my shock, I found it in a condition where I myself cannot explain due to limitation of my English vocabulary.

But this is how it look like.....

I don’t really know what had made it like that, as I kept my shoe together with the Silica Gel. It should be in dry condition. Could it be due to absence of lights?

Last Week (WK 43)

It had been a nice week because of the Dojo. Dojo is a Japanese word and it referring to a learning and improvement activity in my company. I don’t know the exact word in English anyway, but in this event, a number of people will involved. They will be divided into smaller group and working together to realize their group’s aims or objectives.

I have forgotten how many Dojos’ I have joined so far, but I believe it shouldn’t be less than ten. I have different feelings on each different Dojo. I hate those which need me to stay back more than 10 o’clock. But, luckily last week’s Dojo only last mostly until 7-8pm.

It was a nice Dojo since I did not have to do my daily reporting which I always consider as a waste of time. How much of job are you talking about to complete in a day? But if your reporting is a one day report short, people will think that you are not doing any job. People expect to hear more. That’s what makes me sick.

The last day of the Dojo ended with one hour written test which compulsory for all candidates. They need to sit for this test in order to be qualified for a Level 1 certificate. Currently I am at level 1A. Practically, the highest level to achieve is Level 3.

During the examination, I sneaked at the questions while walking around, to my surprise, I found that some of it was indeed very difficult to answer. No wonder most of them cannot finished it on time. Luckily the time was extended. At this time, I don’t think I am fit for my Level 1A certification anymore.

I knew the reason behind. It’s because I seldom use it in my daily job. Not because I don’t want to, but because my job direction doesn’t need it to be used. Thus, I forget. What a waste of HUMAN CAPITAL. You get this people qualified for this and that, but never used them for what they had been trained for.

Talking about my job last week, the Dojo was the only thing worth to be mentioned then. A lot of terrible things with terrible people and terrible situation happened too, but they were all history, and Mr Lett is not going to write about it here. Probably next time when the time is right.

Industrial Engineer Pt 1

I seldom talk about my job, what exactly I do, and what does it mean to be an industrial engineer. Back in year 2000/2001, was the time where I had to decide what course or which field should be taken to further up my study. I actually had no idea. My first choice was engineering. But then, what engineering? Civil? Mechanical? Material? Chemical?. I had no idea at all.

Anyhow, I did some study, and found out that the terms and description of Manufacturing Engineering & Telecommunication Engineering just got my attention more than others. So I raised application for both, but ended up being offered with the first one.

I don’t want to talk about how bad I did on my study. I loved my life as a student but really felt sick when it comes to study. I prayed to God to help me to get through my study on time, and indeed with His help, I managed to finish up my study on time but at a very average result. I am not a smart person, if you want to know.

Then after sat for my final examination, I started looking for a job. I prayed hard so that at least will get a job. I did not being choosy, as I knew what my qualification deserved for.

So after merely 3 weeks, I got a job offer as a Business Development Engineer. I like my job, but this company was really a vampire!!. They sucked all my ‘blood’ and energy and emotion. I just can’t stand it and left only after 1 month and 23 days. Well at least I can use this company to get me a car. It was really difficult without a car during that moment. And without a car, I don’t think I will take such a drastic decision to go to KL, just looking for a job.

I drove to KL, just 3 days after my resignation. I arrived in KL in the middle of nowhere. I promised to meet up with my brother at Mid Valley, so he can guide me to the next destination (He knows KL well). Anyhow, since my Nokia 3310 did not support GPS technology during that time, I ended up stopping at KL Sentral. My brother and I met up half an hour later and went to my old friend’s house, where I supposedly be staying.

Since then, I sent a number of applications, and a week later got a job interview and a job offer, as an Industrial Engineer. I thought earlier, I suppose to write directly regarding what Industrial Engineer is all about. But, I guess my mukadimah is very long, and would be very boring if I continue further. So, I stop here and will continue in the next post.

Christmas Memory

I browsed through some old pictures in my hard drive, and found some pictures which remind me about CHRISTMAS. It was the pictures I had during Christmas time in Japan. Even though it was a lonely Christmas for me (Nobody celebrated it with me except some of the church members during mass), but I can say that it was one of the sweetest. That was back to year 2005.....

When i was in Japan, this is how my room look like. Each and everytime i look at this picture, i smiled. Because i ate my Christmas cookies all alone here, anyhow i did enjoyed it.

It was snowing during that time. And it was very beautiful everywhere.

If you plan to go to Japan during christmas season, you should put Tokyo Disneyland as one of your priority list. There were a lot of people during that time and i missed the ferry!!

We should have one big christmas tree at every house during Christmas. Don't you think so?

That's the cookies i mentioned before!!

Now it’s already end-Oct of the year 2008. I consider Christmas as just around the corner. I can feel that this year Christmas will be one of the best and the merriest for me also. A lot of good things expected to happen.

I had been working in Polymatech (M) Sdn Bhd a.k.a my current company for more than 3 years. My service bond will last until 30th Dec 2008, which still has 2 months to go. This is one of the good things also. I have done my reflection on how far I had progressed, what had I achieved so far, what I had learned and where should I go next. The plans are there, waiting for a good time to kick off.

My twin brother will end his bachelorship this coming December. I have a role to play; A Best Man. Some home work need to be done in order for me to be a good assistant. I hope i will not be like this. And it seems that I have to do some appropriate shopping as I will be attending some functions too. How many times I buy new clothing a year? The answer is 1. It’s only once a year. Biasalah orang miskin.

Saving

1st Scenario:
We start saving our earning at the age of 30 years old. We save RM 100 every month which will gives us RM 1,200 per year until the age of 60 years old. We invest this money in a mutual fund which gives 9% after tax return.

2nd Scenario:
We start saving our earning at the age of 20 years old. We save RM 100 every month which will gives us RM 1,200 per year, but until the age of 29 years old. We invest this money in a mutual fund which gives 9% after tax return.

We will be surprised, that at the age of 60 years old, the amount of money we have at Scenario 1 is still less compare to Scenario 2. Even though in Scenario 1, we keep saving until the age of 60 yrs old.

In Scenario 1, we invest a total amount of RM 37,200 (31 yrs x RM 1,200)
In Scenario 2, we only invest a total amount of RM 12,000 (10 yrs x RM 1,200)

We can see here that saving at the earliest possible time do make a huge difference. We heard about the power of compounding interest and we understand it very well.

It’s proven that in order for us to benefit from the power of compounding interest, it’s really needs us to start investing as early as possible, regardless of how much the saving amount will be.

I am sure most of us here can afford to save more that RM 100 a month. Make it a habit to save and invest.

Double Decker

I do not what wrongs with me. Yesterday around 5:30pm, I started to feel a strange sensation in my stomach. In addition to that I felt dizziness all over my head. Berpinar-pinar pandangan sia.

It became worse by the time I drove home. Luckily road was not jam during that time. Even so, only God understand how suffered I am along the way back. I vomited 4 times at the company. And 2 times when I was at home.

About 9:oopm, my friend sent me to the nearby clinic, because i cannot drive anymore due to dizziness. I got injected on the pantat. The stupid thing was the doctor did not close the curtain, until i asked him to. I don't wana people see my ass.

Ngilu. So I took mc the next day….. which is today. I think I got food poisoning at our company’s canteen. My friend said he got stomach ache also. Only not vomitting.

The vomiting and headache now already subsided, but not gone. I just stop my medication on flu, and now have to continue another medication on food poisoning, I guess. Sigh…..

When the account is not balance.....

5 months ago, I made an order of item A from one of our local supplier. Unfortunately due to my lack of attention, the result was not as what I expected. So I made a second order to replace the first one with additional charges of RM 300 (which meant the company merely loss RM 300 due to my ignorance). The transaction was well within the purchasing department knowledge & control. And they were fully aware of it.

Last Friday I received one e-mail from account department, and being CC-ed to our MD. It was due to one supplier I dealt before, demanding payment of items they had delivered 5 months ago, but have not received ANY payment from the account department. Walau satu sen pun.

I learned that the problem was due to NO Purchase Order (PO) being released from purchasing department. Since I was the one who ordered the item, so they blamed me. Like I was the one who responsible to release the PO.

See, the real problem here is NO PO, and no PO means no payment lah…. I understand this very well, but what kept me wondering was why they need to raise the issue of RM 300 loss to the MD?

What they supposed to do was to ask me to get a special approval from the MD to release the payment, since I was the one who made the order. I keep on thinking why they need to raise the issue of RM 300 loss, as an arrangement has been made by purchasing department previously regarding this matter.

In my effort to make long story short, I met with the MD, explained the real situation, kena marah sikit and get his approval. Habis cerita, and puas hati sia.

Excuse & Life

I realized that I should have fully utilized my camera phone for any purpose. So, while having my usual dinner out this weekend, I managed to take some pictures of the dishes. This weekend theme is Vietnam Kitchen (1 Utama) & Codo (MidValley).
I could not remember what exactly they called all these. They got fancy pronounciation. I just mentioned the number when ordering.

It's worth to try. And tomorrow I will start eating instant mee again.

When it come about uploading pictures, it is my habit to keep it for several days before revealing it. Actually, i am just being lazy, waiting for more free time to do it. Below are some pictures which i took in a location i have forgotton the name already.

Those houses are the illegal immigrants. They are so sophisticated nowadays. I don’t know where they keep their speed boats.

A view during mid day. Not really crowded huh?

A broad view.

Restoring Health

I am recovering..... but very slowly, like a turtle going for 100m run. I wonder why. I think this body is telling me something. Something that i should avoid forever. Am i ready for this? I don't know. As for today, my health indication shows 75% of my health has been restored.

I feel weird. Since I back in KL, I realized that I developed one habit, which did not happen when I was in Sabah. I HATE water. Well, I still drink water, but I hate it when it’s time to go to bathroom. It’s really annoying to think that I have to put the shampoo & shower cream all over my body. It’s really irritating to have to think that I have to turn the pipe to release the water.

Due to this, it takes me less than 5 minutes in the bathroom. I believe it must be connected with my illness. Hopefully it will go away upon completely regaining my health back.

Ohh….. Tomorrow is Saturday. I have to kick my P-L plan. Hopefully this second P-L will be successful. I’ll pray.

Out of the ordinary

I think i need more day off..... This sickness is killing me. Eventhough i'm still on medication, it getting worse, and now i started to lose my left-side hearing already. I hope things will get better by tomorrow. If not, i would be seeing the third doctor, and you know how much of 'drugs' i had consumed?

Even the second medication, the doctor put me on steroid, to cure my unusual FLU. I don't really feel ok with the medication though. It causes my body to have the red rashes, a very similar rashes i will get when i eat seafoods. I'm wondering when did my body starts to react against any medication? am i going to be a mutant? See these rashes below:

To get these dots disappeared, i have to take my anti-histamine pill. Did i just say another pill? I am too dependent on medication now. After all, my nose still congested, it's like there is a sand paper inside my throat, got this feeling hot & itchy. Stupid! Hopefully it is not due to melamin.

White Rabbit Creamy Candy contaminated with Melamine

Maybe some of you knew about this already,
but for those who don't.....

HARTFORD, Conn. - An industrial chemical blamed for sickening thousands of infants in China was found in candy in four Connecticut stores this week, a state official said Wednesday.

Days after contaminated White Rabbit Creamy Candy was found in California, Connecticut Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell Jr. said tests found melamine in bags of the candy sold at two New Haven stores, a West Hartford market and an East Haven store.

Inflation or Economic Growth?

As generally known to all of us, inflation is a situation where there is too much demand, but limited supply. Let say, money is not a problem for us, and we can afford anything, and demanding the same thing at the same time, which will cause the supply to be limited, thus, the price will increase.

Interest rate is the amount of money charged when we borrow money from the bank. Be it a credit card loan, personal loan, car loan, mortgage etc. are bound to the interest rate. There are indeed, many types of interest rate.

Who control the interest rate? It is the Central Bank (in Malaysia it is the BNM) to determine the value of it. In what situation the central bank will decide to reduce or increase the interest rate? It is according to current economic condition, whether they need to increase the supply of money or reduce it. (If not interested, please stop here.....)

By controlling the interest rate, the Central Bank (Gov.) may control inflation. If the inflation is high (More money than supply), the Central Bank will increase the interest rate. This means borrowing money become more expensive. As an example, would you want to buy a new house if the interest rate is, let say 15% per annum? Of course you will avoid borrowing money.

On the other hand, if the interest rate is higher, we will be encouraged to save and keep our money. Which mean, we spend less (reduce the circulation of money over something limited), and when customer spending reduce, inflation will reduce also.

So here we can conclude that, high interest rate tends to keep inflation lower, and low interest rate tends to drive inflation higher. Increased the interest rate will result in lower customer spending and vice versa.

Economic growth shows how much the overall economy progressing over a period of time. In order for it to have a positive growth, customer spending (Demand) must grow. The consumers have to buy product, then only production will occurs. This in return will generate income for the government and to the people and boost the economy. The cycle continues.

So we can see that, interest rate, inflation, economic growth is interconnected. When the government increase the interest rate, inflation could go lower with customer spending reducing, thus economic growth will also reduced.

Anyway, if the government reduces the interest rate, it will be easier for people to borrow money and depositing money into the bank is not attractive anymore, which in turn will drive the inflation higher. But because supply of money has increased, customer spending (Demand) also increased thus will lead to a higher economic growth.

So, when the BNM decided to leave its key overnight policy rate unchanged at 3.50 pct, I think they were worried about the economy growth as well as the inflation. They believed the 3.5% rate still supportive to the economic growth. As we all know, the government projecting an economic growth target at 5% - 6%. Their hands were tied up. Any movement will result on the inflation or growth to further deteriorate.

Recession happens when the economic growth (GDP) become negative. A country with possible threat of recession, will usually acts by reducing the interest rate to stimulate customer spending and to prevent the stock market from further stumbling. But, they are facing the threat of higher inflation.

One more correlation we can learn here. Reducing the interest rate indirectly may bring the stock market price higher. Because company can borrow money at low cost to expand their business. This in turn will boost the economy growth, and vice versa.

A Day

Yesterday I watched this movie at CATHAY CINEPLEXES-KOTA KINABALU. It's a nice movie for me..... I like the storyline and the thrills and the actions..... Apart from that, the hall's temperature was within my comfort level.

By the way, I think the sound system is not as good as the GSC 1 Utama and GSC Pavilion. I've been there many times, so i can tell the difference. Another thing is about the seat. It's shorter where you only can lean your back, cannot lean ur neck and head, incase you want to sleep if the movie turns out to be boring.

Anyway, CATHAY CINEPLEXES-CINELEISURE DAMANSARA, PETALING JAYA, is awesome for me, not others. Probably I should try GSC 1 Borneo to see how it's look like.

I just hope this movie will make my day on the 6th/9 of my holiday. Is it the 6th already??!!! What an envious time. I don't wana go back there!!.

This is my humble house. Inside the jungle. Another panoramic view.... I like panoramic view.

I would like to introduce to all of you, Mr Bintik, a very faithful dog. He never forgotton me, and treated me like a stranger eventhough i only back home once in a 5 months. Thanks God, my look never change since 7 years ago.
As relax as he seems to be in the picture, you should be very careful of him. He bites!!
Last but not least (Betul ka ni?), My sickness getting worse. I really can feel it right now, is's getting worst!!. Why now? Why not in KL? so that i can take M/C. I would like to tell this FLU, that i still have a full leaves for M/C. Please attack me during a time I am eligble to apply for a M/C. Not now!!
So, i came to see the doctor, and see what she gave me. Anyway, my main purpose is not promoting any clinic. When i walked around into looking for a clinic, that was the first clinic i saw, and i hope the medicines they gave me can restore my health back. After that only i can give due credit. hehe.

A teacher

I am not feeling well today….. my nose is congested, my throat is not comfortable, plus it’s been a very hot day today. I planned to go out with Mountain, Helga & Pandos & etc… (Joanne, kalau jadi ko mau join ka? kalau ko mau join, nanti sia ambik ko di rumah. Bt don't tell your parents k. Kita terus lari...) tonight, but I think I might have to reconsider and probably to pull myself out of the plan. I don’t know, will decide later on.

To all teachers, please continue reading.....

I knew many of you who are a teacher out there. Students nowadays have becoming more and more sophisticated. I am sure students bringing mobile phone to school are not something new. Well, I am not against it. It is their right to do so as their family can afford it for them.

Anyway, to all teachers out there, what would you do if your students pick up their phone during your lecture/class?
